We developed the “B.R.A.K.E. the Cycle” website, a responsive educational platform for the team of researchers at the Loyola University of Chicago.
The project aimed to create an interactive experience for participants to learn about domestic violence and support methods in different cultural settings. We used an extensive narrative to walk the participants through the multiple steps – right from identifying abuse to helping and enabling the victim to get help based on their research. This was done using interactive videos, maps and resource material for shelters & legal help.
The different video scenarios were produced using 2D animation with cultural traits to each character. This was put together with a voiceover that narrated the situation. For each avatar that the user chose, we portrayed a different point of view in the video, adding to the complexity of the project.
Currently, the site helps Loyola University to carry out 90-minute-long participation scenarios where people can learn about domestic violence, unique abuse tactics, and support methods, with their data securely stored for research purposes.
